In Rifts, the action is up to you. The next big event is the "unacceptable order", and is a few months away. 

Possibilities include: working on the colony ship to enable a short term takeover stop their attempt to blackmail you, plan defenses and safety for the residents during the blackmail, plan a raid on an enemy site, go searching for artifacts (not sure how you'd really do that intentionally, but if you think of anything let me know). 

 And any of a million other things...
