Saturday, June 30th

Ok, so, last day of the month and we don't know what we will be doing.  Dwight ran his Star Wars game last week and he needs this weekend to plan for the next adventure...or continuation of our adventure to find the downed ship on a jungle planet infested with Nexu and other things.

This weekend, however, not sure what we will be doing.  Will it be something new?  Will it be Terry's Iron Kingdom game?  Will it be board and card games?  Or will we just watch movies?  Won't really know until you come and attend this weekend festivities.

Who will be there?  And please post if you are coming or not, so Terry has an idea of how many to plan for.

Comments:
I'll be there, but not sure when. I am moving that Saturday and actually having real movers come in and move my shit. They are suppose to arrive between 8 and 9 am. I hopefully will have everything they need to worry about ready for them to just come and pick up the shit and put it on the truck. I have two stops with them, first will be at the storage unit and then at the house, which is in northwest Laurel. I hope that it will take these guys no longer than 2 hours to load up the truck and then between the two locations, an hour each there and then about 45 minutes to an hour total for drive time. I might end up having to do a couple of runs back and forth between the house and apartment to get all I need out for the new place, or I could just wait until Monday and stop off at the apartment before heading home to get shit, since it would be on the way home. So, I'm hoping I can get to Terry's sometime after 2 pm.

Also, what is your email address, Dwight. Not sure if I have it, but I probably do, but just want to make sure before I send you my future plans.

Don't have a real plan yet. Got a couple new(ish) movies. I want to RP a star wars game that includes mass lightsaber battle, but can't think of a story that would be fun to GM with that...

I'll keep thinking.

A scene recreated in at least three different environments for one of the star wars video games starts with a large door opening to reveal one obvious bad guy who dramatically lights red a lightsaber causing a small group of heroes to respond in kind. Just before the fighting starts, in the darkness behind the villain, dozens of red lightsabers light up, then you seen the heroes are outnumbered and a chaotic (but still epic) fight starts.

There are a few ways to bring such a fight into a "1st death star" era scene by only stretching current canon a little bit (less stretching of canon if using legends lore). But the choices are still vast and I've not had enough time to focus on how to create an interesting plot line that includes the epicness of the fight scene early on, then finds a way to repeat it in a manner that makes sense, makes an interesting story to play in, and will also inspire players and characters into creating both an epic fight scene and an epic story.

I'll keep thinking, but may need some group brainstorming on Saturday.

Hey, just letting you know that the next day I plan to run Pathfinder is Sat the 14th. Let you know if any other days open up in July.

Terry, the scene you described was the original trailer for the MMO game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Basically, you had Darth Malgus walking up the steps to the Jedi Temple with his Twi'lek Imperial Agent (she really looked like a Smuggler, but, in keeping with the classes that was allowed for the Sith side, she would have been the agent). He is approached by some guards whom he easily takes out and then just walks into the temple. He has a Bounty Hunter that sneaks into the temple on a different level and starts to wreck havoc on supposed reinforcements. He is eventually approached by multiple Jedi Knights who all snarl at Malgus, that is until they see the shuttle coming right for the front doors and then crashes through them and stops just a foot or so from Malgus. Door to the shuttle opens and out pour like two dozen Sith Warriors and Inquisitors. Major fight ensues, resulting in the death of all the Jedi fighting and the destruction of the temple as well as the start of the take over of Coruscant by the Sith.

Dwight, thanks. I did have the correct email and I emailed you what I want to find myself doing sometime down the road.

There's at least one more scene like it. One takes place in a large space ship or space station. I'm certain I've scene more, but the "more bad guys in the darkness" is a kind of classic stereotype. I'm also not certain if they all come from the same game.

There was another one for the same game. It was on a space station orbiting Korriban, home of the Sith. The Jedi had a space station orbiting it, I guess to guard the place from people trying to "steal" stuff from there. That they did, a Smuggler had been caught with Sith artifacts on board. He was being escorted by two Troopers, a Jedi Knight and a Jedi Consular.
Then the Sith returned, guns blazing. A battle ensued on the station, ending in the hanger deck, where a Fury Class Sith Interceptor lands and lets out a Sith Inquisitor (Master) and Darth Malgus (Sith Warrior - apprentice). A fight ensues between the four lightsaber wielders, but the Sith were too much. The Consular had to run away to the Smuggler's ship, which escaped, but not without practically destroying the Fury Interceptor. The fight continued and the Jedi Knight was able to stab the Inquisitor. Then Malgus took both their sabers and dealt a killing blow to the Knight.

Oh, and the first one, the Twi'lek was a smuggler. I forgot about the companions the game had and a Sith Warrior get a female Twi'lek smuggler as a companion.

Terry working on the stats for the swords, also.. he said for the mission one person should be seen with them both, if no one else wants to use them it is all good.

Dwight, did you get my email? Is that what you were looking for?

Hmmm... so, no clear answer from Dwight on if he'll be there... I thought he was out for at least one weekend. Nothing from Rob, unless he texted somebody. Curtis can't post here. At least we know where Kevin and Terry are, and hopefully Paul, maybe.

As for me, I'm only a "maybe" this weekend, depending upon events, and I'll almost surely be doing family stuff next weekend (weekend after July 4th.) I'll try to be more specific before Saturday, if possible.

nope, got something from matt

as for me being there, it depends if i can get the oil change done tomorrow or Saturday. Quicklane oil changes are not so quick,

So, have a starting point for a Force and Destiny game. Most of the characters should be force users. I'll have more specific character creation info for characters on Saturday. The basics are going to be, you're all teenagers mostly being raised on Jedha (around 6 BBY, so Jedha City is still there). Something like a Jedi temple has been set up to raise young force users, mostly in plain sight.

You have force-using isntructors who aren't Jedi, but anxiously await the return of the Jedi (no pun intended), and so they collect force-sensitive children as best they can, and train them in the use of the force. They collect non-force-sensitive children as well, raising them to be allies of the Jedi. Most of the children they teach are orphans, but local followers of the church of the force send a child there as well, helping provide cover (it serves as a boarding school for some children, who are encouraged to have only minimal attachment to their families, mostly because the senile old people running the place aren't smart enough to see the problems the Jedi emotional detachment caused).

You teachers include an obviously evil Bardoten (sp?) martial arts instructor, a baran do sage who teaches meditation, knowledge (all) and mechanics, a blind monk who also teaches martial arts, a giant of some sort who teaches PE, and an academy dropout who teaches piloting. A dozen volunteers teach you mechanics, and part of your cover is that your orphanage is a front to train children to be sweatshop mechanics motivated by religious fervor that most of the instructors clearly don't believe in.

You are all well trained in mechanics and combat, including lightsaber training (LS training is optional for non-force-sensitives). Force sensitives get the padawan survivor talent tree for free, while non-force-sensitives get the force adherent tree for free.

Starting at age 14, you were let in on part of the secret, and let fully in when you were 16.

OOC: The orphanage won't matter after the first game adventure. This game will mostly be about exploration, seeking allies against the empire, seeking force-related information and artifacts, running from inquisitors and other dark-siders, and possibly influencing the beginning of the rebellion (maybe some revenge if you don't mind skirting the dark side). Force users may start with one of the force-based classes (except for warrior) but do not have to. Remember, non-force-sensitives can use lightsabers, and there are some cool weapons that use the lightsaber skill that aren't truly lightsabers as well.
