Saturday, Oct 28th

So, if nothing has changed with Kevin, he will still be out for this weekend.  If I remember correctly, he should be returning next Saturday, but, will have to wait for him to post to let us know positively.

Terry should hopefully be able to continue to run Iron Kingdoms for us this weekend.  We had some heavy fights last week.  I went down twice.  I hope we can get to the train and back home safely from this point on, because I'm not going to be much good in any more fighting until I can heal up.

Who can be there?

Comments:
I'll be there, but I have to work, so wont be until after 4:30 pm.

Lasagna and dirty rice (frozen food experiments) is the dinner plan.

6 XP for 20171021. (+2 occupational skills at 27xp and +1 archetype benefit OR add a new career with two occupational skills at 30 xp. Also, at 25 xp, warcasters get a boost to their bonded warjacks)
The group gets four minor upgrades for this mission, along with 200 gc per person in combat pay. You can also save up to 10 extra gc per month by living frugally, but doing so limits your ability to make friends and influence people. You are also allowed to keep a firebrand as a trophy since you brought back 12 of them. These are highly valued by menites, and it would be unwise to display ownership of such, which many menites would would consider blasphemous for non-believes to touch without dieing. The magic of the blades does not function for non-believers, but they are interesting weapons.

Breakdown for minor upgrade awards, if you're interested: One for completing the mission, one for handily dealing with the Advanced Iron Maiden, one for bringing back the loot/'jacks from the encounter with the Menites, and one for bringing back a valuable prisoner for interrogation.

For the next month, there is much tension in Goldholm. The local menite community knows that the tension between the protectorate and Cygnar has greatly increased, and even though they don't know why, many menites feel less welcome than they had previously and are much less civil with non-menites as a result.

Your team has been told not to mention the unique 'jacks your brought back to anyone while they are being studied in the vault; although the mechaniks among you are welcome to study them if they wish. They are immune to fire and their explosive ammunition is of mild interest. The most alarming thing, however, is that the cortexes are advanced and not of Cygnaran manufacture. Their body armor and blades are also interesting, but only academically so. The heavier sets of armor are so heavy that even Colena can't move when wearing it, and the less-heavy sets are just high-quality plate armor. Impressive workmanship, but not impossible to acquire in Cygnar, it just has to be custom made for each wearer. Their magical blades lose their magic when picked up by someone who doesn't worship Menoth as the rightful god of all humans. Whether the balde can magically detect the faith in someone's heart, or whether Menoth himself pays attention and directs the blades power is unknown.

Please describe, in one post, what you do with your spare time in between major missions. They aren't sending you guys out again for at least six months, maybe longer. They do occupy 40 hours a week of your time with local patrols, training and occasional one or two day missions. Do you try to earn money, something that isn't too hard if you have the mechanical engineering skill. Do you try to spend time befriending the other groups (Storm Maidens, WC'R'Us, and the newest group of recruits, Frost-Blades), or maybe getting to know other people in town (what type of people interest your character). Do you spend your time researching something new and unique. The scientists you rescued spent years creating an “impossible” gun, you don't have years at the moment, but you have to start sometime. Maybe taking some baby steps to create “inventor” credentials and confidence is a good idea. Nemo spent years designing armor for himself and Striker, and he's still working on new versions. Some of Goldholm's local improvised improvements to 'jack technology are replacing coal with active storm chambers. The 'jack isn't truly powered directly by the storm chambers yet (the storm chambers just provide heat in place of coal), but its a start. Maybe one of the warcaster's wants to become an ironhead (arcane mechanics and field mechanics may learn the ironhead ability as a career ability when they earn a new ability if they wish). Does someone want to try and make iron-head armor powered by a storm chamber or with a power field? (something that will take years of research, but would be a very Cygnaran thing to do).

I'll post one for Rowan later this week.

Ok, so, I took Pistoleer as my new career. I took Crypt 2, Seduction 1 and Sneak 1 for my Occupational skills.

As for what I do over the next several months. I will look to try and make some extra money by helping repair and build things. I will use the Tinkerer and Fabricator abilities to help me in doing this and I will use the Makeshift Engineering ability to go out and find rare or expensive items that one, can be used in repairs or to be resold to help make money. I will see about trying to invent a underarm slug gun that is a magelock gun as well or try to make a gun that is less susceptible to possibly being damaged each time a Rune Shot is used through it (maybe something like rolling two ones in a row for it to get damaged). I will also try and work a Storm Chamber into Bob, or at least tinker around with the idea and I will also tinker around with a new Ironclad armor that can also integrate a Storm Chamber into it as well. Then I will see about adding a Power Field to it as well. I will also study those Menites 'Jacks that was captured, maybe it can give me some insight into upgrading Bob or my armor.

Even though I have not gotten the Signal Language ability yes, I will spend time working on the language for my team. (Once I get that ability, then I figure that I have perfected it and it can actually be used in fights with the rest of the team, but, I've worked with Matt's character (since he is my second in command) during this time to perfect it during minor fights and skirmishes).

I will also spend time getting to know at least the leaders of the other teams if not all of the team members. I will part with them some battle tactics that I've learned over the course of our many encounters, especially targeting the Warcasters or whomever is controlling he 'Jacks, as they seem to be less armored than what they control and can usually be easier to take down than a heavy 'Jack or even multiple 'Jacks.

If this town has aristocrats or people of that sort, I will try to attend parties, representing our unit and possibly the teams as a whole. Try to schmooze them and try to get "gossip" from them that might help us or to let us know what kind of storm(s) might be brewing. I will also try to "seduce" some of the unmarried young ladies or young daughters of married ladies (especially if they are just visiting our city). I will also go around the town and try to make friends of many of the local business owners, as they can also be a good source of gossip of things that they have heard from caravans and traders that bring in and take out their goods.

I will take one of those firebrands and mount it on my wall as a trophy.

That is all I can think of right now, in the past couple of hours it has taken me to type this up while I sit in Flippin Pizza. If something major I can think of, I'll post it as an addendum.

Example:
Rowan
Like all thamarites, Rowan spends more time than is reasonable focused on vice, some of his focus on vice is more for appearances than anything else. Making friends with all of the worthwhile women in the area, and constantly dating or at least flirting with them is what people expect. The good part, if there were such a ting, about being known as a thamarite is that people don't expect you to be a particularly good person. While not mentioned by name, the local menite priests warn against befriending people like him, with the strong suggestion that they should be exiled form polite society.
Those closest to Rowan realize he does have other goals entirely. While he does seek female companionship, it is more about real relationships that anything else, Rowan accepts any intimacy he can get, but he's more focused on making useful women feel like best friends. Three female researchers who feel somewhat indebted to Rowan and his friends are extremely useful people to know. They are also interested in Rowan's real vice, knowledge. Knowledge is power, and it comes in many forms. All of the researchers have interest in magic and mechanika, which is also Rowan's current sources of power. They are useful as research mentors, he can assist them in their own research and earn favors that can later be turned into assistance for his own research. He might also be able to seduce them into working on his own research projects. These women are also likely to be near the halls of power for the rest of their lives, being friends with them may put his name into the ears of other powerful and useful people. Something he may need in the future, both to bolster his career and to negate the potential drawbacks of his spiritual proclivities.
The storm maidens are of interest to Rowan for the same reasons, but currently slightly less useful than the researchers. As warcasters and storm smiths, they will always be important members of the Cygnaran military. Long term friendship with them may prove useful in the future, and with the martial capability, they may be willing to risk their lives rescuing him if he even needs it.
With these goals in mind, Rowan sets about meeting all of them in social situations and insinuating himself into their personal and work lives. In spite of his common interests with the other two, Rowan spends most of his time working with Sylin, assisting in her research on integrating her lightning calling ability with moer common mechanika. His time spent with Celine and Grace is spent more on common vice and metaphysical debate, which satisfies those two more than mechanikal or arcane research anyways.
On weekends, he spends time working on mechanical gear for practice purposes, including tuning up Johnny, but more importantly assisting the storm maidens with repair and maintenance of their own gear. He doesn't learn as much from them as he does poking around Johnny's cortex, but making sure they all see him as a dependable friend and comrade may pay off in the future. They currently think he's just trying to get into their pants, but taking advantage of a qualified mechanic to assist in keeping up their gear is worth putting up with his persistent flirting with all of them.

Hmm, cant find any free downloadable PDFs. So most things will have to look into before game.

Will do one of 2 things.
1) look into soul magic for use into mechanica or
2) use his armor as a guide for using storm chambers for labor Jacks, which will be needing
funding from the army.
3) Weapon research, funded buy army.

Assorted stuff:

1) Learn (if allowed by the rules) the Signal Language ability from Paul. If not allowed by the rules... well... maybe we can fake it depending upon what other things I'd get with this extra XP.
2) Probably not take another class if I can instead get something like Virtuoso (extra attacks) for my current archetype instead. Not sure how the rules work in that regard.
3) Killeena enjoys the "machinery" of civilization (hence the ranks in Investigation, Law, etc.), so she'd probably spend her time getting to know local investigators, political figures, judges, etc. I'm not sure if this world has traveling judges (as the real world did back in the Civil War and earlier era - Lincoln was one), but if so, she could probably handle various small court claims, investigate some crimes, and so forth.
4) In the process, she'd get to know people of some influence in the court and legal system, and maybe uncover greater plots, mysteries, and oddities that would interest her and perhaps the party.
5) She's not a scientist or engineer, but she'd have her Warjack upgraded appropriately by such people. I think it currently has a dual-fire cannon that can only be dual fired with Focus, which I lack. Maybe I'm wrong on that - I don't really remember - but if her Jack is equipped with a weapon she can't fully use, she'd get it swapped for one that she can use. Similarly, I'm not sure what personal weapon upgrades, if any, are appropriate or useful, but we'll worry about that later.
