Sat the 25th

Ok, not sure why Kevin hasn't started a post yet, but I guess I'll start one for him.

Kevin had wanted to run Pathfinder this Saturday and try to finish up the campaign.  So, who can be there?

Unfortunately, I probably will not be able to make it.  I've come down with the flu and I'm still pretty sick.  I don't want to come down there and give it to anybody, nor do I want to try and eat some solid food and have it come right back up.  That would just be bad.  So, unless things change drastically in the next couple of days, I probably wont come down.  I'll let you know if anything changes.  Just so you all know, I picked up the bug on Thursday, from my gaming group.  It hit hard Saturday evening.  So, for those of you that I gamed with on Saturday, if you aren't showing any signs of it by now, I didn't give it to you.  I didn't know I had it until Sunday when one of my friends from Thursday posted on Facebook that he had it.  So, I put two and two together and figured I got it from him or one of the other people that I gamed with that night.

Now, as for my car with the coolant leak.  I took it to the shop and it ended up being the water pump.  I had them replace it and it should be good to go for me to drive it without any problems, hopefully.

Comments:
Paul, thanks for starting a post. Sorry to hear you are feeling so sick and won't be able to come this week. And yes, its turning out to be another crazy week at work due to the weather. Just when things were getting back to "normal." Sigh, seems like crazy is the new normal.

Anyway, yes, I would like to run Pathfinder. The party has a couple of loose ends to tie up and then an opportunity to face Karzoug himself. I'm going to be there a bit earlier since I'd like to finish up and the boss fight could take a while. Or could be over very quickly . . . .

I've been ill most of the week, too, though I'm feeling somewhat better.

Glad the car is fixed.

I have complete faith in Kevin's ability to create a boss fight that is over in an instant and, at the same time, lasts an eternity. Madness is the key to such things, yes!

Ok, so, I'm feeling a lot better now. Solid food tastes great and is my friend again. :)

So, my car works fine, but, I don't have the gas to get down to Terry's. I have about enough gas to get me to and from work for the next week, and that might be pushing it. So, if someone can come and get me, I'd be happy to play on Saturday. Otherwise, my initial prediction will still be my choice that I can't make it.

Seems to be one small problem. The duration you listed is "Instantaneous", so, there is no duration on the spell, so, the second paragraph does not happen.

Corrected... I hate how I can't edit these posts. Okay, here we go - the fixed Polar Vortex spell, inspired by Polar Ray, Firestorm, Freezing Sphere, Hail Storm, and Earthquake...

Polar Vortex

School evocation [cold]; Level cleric 9, druid 9, sorcerer/wizard 9
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S, F (bone fragment from a creature that froze to death)
Range medium: (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Area: 80-ft.-radius spread (S)
Duration: 1 round per level
Saving Throw: Fortitude half; Spell Resistance: yes

When a polar vortex spell is cast, the whole area is blasted with horrific cold and swirling snow dealing 1d6 points of cold damage per caster level (maximum 25d6) and 1d4 points of Dexterity drain to every creature within the area. A successful save halves both the damage and the ability drain. Unattended objects also take this damage; any body of water or a liquid that is principally water (not including water-based creatures) is instantly frozen upon being affected by this spell.

This damage only occurs once, when the spell is cast. For the remaining duration of the spell, heavy snow is blown through the area. Creatures inside this area take a –4 penalty on Perception skill checks and 5d6 points of cold damage, and the entire area is treated as difficult terrain. At the end of the duration, the snow and ice disappear, leaving no aftereffects (other than the damage dealt).

I think Matt you inspired by ICE Storm, but otherwise I like the spell. Too bad Karzoug didn't specialize in evocation. But maybe one of his subordinates did . . . .

Mexican again (its easy). I've got beef, beans, sour cream, salsa, cheese and tortillas. I only have 3 bottles of coke (but plenty of cans).

If someone could call me before you come over, I'd appreciate it (its too cold for you guys to have to wait outside while I get dressed enough to open the door).

Oh, it would be a shame if this spell showed up in actual gameplay... I made it powerful, but playable, for just that reason...

I'm just glad that as far as I know, I'm the first to post a polar vortex spell anywhere online. Hehehehe...
